hi, hope someone can help me, have used avast with no problems in the past until recently the program caught a virus and performed perfectly but when i went to scan again i got the following “scan complete with unknown error at 42000 42000=unknown error” any help would be much appreciated

hi , thanks to eddie and tech for your advice.unfortunately the thread/link you posted ended with the avast user unable to fix the unknown error problem.but for myself every thing is good as i can now scan without error by using the simple user interface i found in the mountains of files have put a shortcut on desktop and everything seems happy .no fancy skins but i am not fussed.oh yeah just for the record i did reinstall and tried to repair (control panel etc) with no luck but as i said it seems to be right now .hope i’ve done the right thing. cheers tim ;D
