9.0.1506

Hi - I thought I’d oughta upgrade my engine at the re-registration, but sussing out the latest version, which seems to be 9.0.1506, all the Release History shows me are some version 8 products and some strange entries at the top of the page like

2014.9.0.2018
2014-04-17

and some features.

My problem is, I cannot relate anything there to v9.0.1506.

My current engine is 7.0.1466, which is working quite well. Other info is in the sig.

Gordon.

Latest beta, soon to be released here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=150784.0

Hi Pondus, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, it is the http://www.avast.com/release-history which is the problem.

My v7.0.1466 is not showing me any of the v9x versions the Release History page shows, and I have no way of relating 2014.9.0.2018 to 9.0.1506.

I did see something in another post about build numbers and version numbers, but that was only a comment and had no detail.

EDIT: It was in Pavel’s Announcement for AVAST 2014 R4 Beta. END EDIT

Gordon.

9.01506 and 8.0.1506 are actually the same with one purpose: Support version for migration to AVAST 2014. Don’t worry about this.
Avast! should modify this release history to explain this.

Hi dukthepope, thanks. I had begun to think in that direction, it seems that v7x can’t recognise higher versions when it interrogates the database or whatever. I remembered v4 had the same problem.

Support version for migration to AVAST 2014

Do I really need it? I normally do a clean install and manually reenter all my prefs, which I guess will be different from v7 anyway.

Cheers,

Gordon.
