A bit disappointed

Hi!
I don’t have any questions really just an input. I’ve been running avast! for like 8 years and it has worked perfectly. But today it disappointed me by letting the “snap.do”-virus/browser hijacker onto my computer. And from a quick google it was quite apparent that it’s a “popular” virus these days and other programs seems to detect it so why haven’t you gotten avast! to do it too?
If anyone on here is a developer or has easy contact with one please tell them that they should really take a look at this to make avast! even better

Cheers!
Phonton

Snap do is a PUP and not a virus as believe it or not some people install that intentionally

Have you used Browser cleanup to remove it

snap do is classed as PUP = not virus / Possible Unwanted Program

avast PUP detection is defaul off…exept for in boot scan, so if you want pup detection turn it on

or use Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner for PUP removal

as essexboy say…you can download and install the crap from Cnet if you want to http://download.cnet.com/Snap-do-Browser-Widgets/3000-2378_4-75759707.html

Oh see there… Poor people who don’t understand better :stuck_out_tongue:
Of course I’ve cleaned it out

Oh PUP detection off, ey? Well that’s good to know, thanks

Set PUP on

Yupp I found it literally seconds before you posted :stuck_out_tongue:

Shucks  I have also set hardened mode to aggressive, that way any unusual programme is brought to my attention before it runs

be aware that avast class some factory installed programs from hp / toshiba / dell as PUP bcause of what they can do…so you need to know what is detected befor you take action
