I signed up so that I could ask a few questions. One in particular has been annoying me for about 3 days now. Here is the first one:
Will Avast 6.0 be the final one? Will they move on to another one? Perhaps a 7.0 one?
I have noticed that Avast 6.0 is incapable of blocking exploit attacks. Why is that? About 3 times over the past few days it has informed me that it has blocked an exploit, but after it says that my firewall appears and tells me that I need to clean my computer. I use Comodo Firewall, and it has HIPS (Host Based Intrusion Prevention System). It calls this HIPS “Defense+”. Somehow these exploits make there way past avast, and then my firewall’s defense+ has to stop it from executing. So far these two programs have saved me. Avast 6.0 has done a great job with everything else, but for some reason it cannot stop these exploit Trojans. These Trojans are recognized as “JS:Pdfka-gen [Expl]”. Why does my firewall have to stop it from executing? Avast can detect it, but it does not seem to be able to stop it even though it says that it already has.
If avast can detect it, it blocks it.
But, maybe, the actions of D+ and Comodo Firewall are being done before avast can check the file? I’m guessing.
Besides, there will always be files not detected by one and only by the other. This is the reason for layered defense like you use.
No. My anti-virus alert appears first, then the firewall’s defense+ after avast. According to the firewall’s defense+ alert the exploit attack is a Trojan, and according to the alert it seems to already be on a file on my computer, which means the Trojan made it past. My firewall’s defense+ stops the Trojan from executing, but I do not understand why avast 6.0 does not just stop it from infecting the computer altogether.
The webshield is working. I always have it on. I never turned it off, nor do I intend to. I already gave you the name of the infection. Js: Pdfka-gen [Expl]
There is no need for me to run CCleaner. My computer is clean. My firewalls Defense+ always stops the trojan from executing. I am fully protected. I am simply wondering why this continues to happen. Why does Avast say that it has blocked the exploit when it does not seem to work. Avast 6.0 has blocked EVERYTHING else that has come my way, but these exploit attacks make it past for some reason. Instead, my firewall’s defense+ must stop it.
How do I find the name of the file? I cannot seem to find it. I do not know what the path is either. Are you asking where it came from? I do not understand.
