I’ve been using avast! since late 2007, when it came bundled with my young brother’s computer. I noticed how fast and good detecting threats it was, that I ditched my back then election anti-virus (begins with a E and ends with a SET), that was slow when scanning files, every now and then would start blocking my Internet connection and another batch of problems, and began using the best anti-virus ever made: avast!: very fast and very very good.
And now the questions:
- I have a fairly good computer, but I like performance. Will the version 5 be as fast as the 4.8? I checked the system requirements, and they are pretty low, compared to others, but are they really? Once again: is version 5 as fast as the 4.8?
- I’m using the Free Edition, which means I had to register my avast!. Do I need to register again to use version 5, or could I use the same key?
- Since I’m using a regionalized version (Portuguese language), when can I expect it (version 5) to be released in my language?
- If it won’t be released in Portuguese, if I upgrade from the 4.8 (Portuguese), to the 5 (English), would there be any problems?
- Will the auto-update, update the 4.8 version to the 5 version automatically, or do we need to download the setup and install it ourselves?
- And by the way, where’s the Free Edition setup? All I could find was the ‘Professional’ and ‘Internet Suite’ Editions.
