Hello,
A suggestion for the developers of the VPN included with Avast Premium and Ultimate:
The idea would be to create software exceptions – a sort of bypass – to allow certain programmes to be used without having to disconnect from the VPN, whilst ensuring that those programmes do not route through the VPN. I know this feature exists, as Proton VPN offers it, and it works very well.
My big problem is that I’m a bit scatterbrained. Although I know that Free, my ISP, really doesn’t like VPNs at all. So, if Avast VPN is enabled and I log in to my @Free email addresses, Free treats this as a hacking attempt and automatically blocks the address. After that, it’s a real nightmare to unblock them. You see, my Outlook account has five @Free addresses. All I have to do is open Outlook once with the VPN enabled, and I end up with five blocked addresses, as is the case right now. And it’s getting increasingly complicated to unblock them (the methods change over time).
I know I’m not the only one in France facing this issue, as most ISPs behave just like mine. Similarly, many game publishers block connections from VPNs.
This would be a real bonus for your VPN (at least for Avast Premium and Ultimate).
Thank you for your attention.

PS: I posted this two years ago on the French forum and received no response from Avast. I’m posting it here, in English, in the hope of having a bit more success. I know this is a community forum, but a community forum with no interaction from the developers of the product (Avast)… What’s the point?
