don`t think there is a avast site with info on this, but lots of others if you use your friend google

The virus is old, here it is detected by avast in a 2008 scan

The question really needs to be why do you need this, e.g. have you been infected by this old virus, is a security application reporting this ?

YES.
Our customer reported to us that BART CD searched mx97:cve-2008-0081 virus, but there is not virus information in avast web site.
A lot of our customers complain about a lack of informaiton about virus or risk in avast web site.

Virus names are usually named by the company which provide Antivirus products.
So Users don’t know virus by its name if antivirus company provides the infomation.

So we think Antivirus company must provide virus information. >:(

Thanks.

Its just that the malware name doesn’t appear to follow the normal avast naming convention. It looks like a direct lift from a windows security KB style name, so it looks like it is detecting a previous exploit.

A google search for mx97:CVE-2008-0081 returns many hits, but a search for CVE-2008-0081 returns many hits which relate to the exploit itself, like this one http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2008-0081 or http://www.securiteam.com/cves/2008/CVE-2008-0081.html.

Thanks for good information!!
