I found that the url blocking in web shield seems to only work for IE based web browsers, and does not work for others like firefox, or is it just me? Can u guys tell me if it works for u in firefox? Replies much appreciated, thanks.
It works here with Firefox 1.0.1. But I did download a beta webshield patch related to a problem that some pages were not loading completely in 4.6.623.
“avast! Web Shield detected a blocked file or page
and will not allow you to access the object. Please see
the system administrator if you need to access it anyway.”
It should work in all browsers for which WebShield is active, including Firefox, Mozilla and Maxthon. BTW what operating system are you using?
i’m using windows xp home, newest version of avast and firefox, but url blocking just doesnt seem to work on firefox for me, any idea that might cause this?
Working fine here on both XP Home and Win98SE (both using Firefox and IE).
What are you trying to block?, are you using wildcards?
What version of firefox are you using?
Any other info such as firewall etc.

sorry but, what does wildcard mean? ???
Wildcard = *
For example if i wanted to block a URL with .pif at the end i would use *.pif
But if i wanted to block a URl with .pif anywhere in the URL i would use .pif
Also what are you trying to block in a URL?
