What do you guys think about it? is it as good as it used to be now that PcTools has been gobbled up by Symantec?
what does it do exactally? I have read a few reviews and im still questioning about what it does ???
I’m asking these questions because I am thinking about including it in my current Anti-Malware configuration.
I think it detects very little behind avast protection.
It brings troubles from now and then with Firefox and its extensions.
Which firewall do you use? Some of them have HIPS protection.
Right now I’m behind the Norton Firewall honestly, The subsription that ive talked about in earlier posts has a few weeks left on it after than Im putting Avast! with SAS, MBAM and depending probably Comodo FW, it really depends though because honestly I’m still on my Dad’s computer and its good that Comodo FW is really chatty for me, but would most likely be extremely annoying for him :-\
hmmm, maybe I wont include ThreatFire since Avast SAS and MBAm would have the computer pretty much covered. I was just wondering what ThreatFire did because I have read about it on Wilders Security forum and elsewhere and had never given it a try but thanks for the help Tech
Threatfire is a behaviour blocker, and so will warn of potential malicious behaviour (hopefully) that isn’t covered by a signature based application. It also has a virus database to refer to for known malicious actions.
Previous versions had some compatibility issues, the current one seems to work fine. (Quite happy with it.)
Are you using MBAM and SAS in realtime? Might get some issues, there.
If you have D+ active in Comodo, I don’t think there is much need for Threatfire.
For a non-HIPS firewall, I think it is a useful addition.
Be aware that it can be registered in the security centre as an AV, so unless it is set not to (easy), the security centre will report more than one AV active.
