Access Scanner ?

Hello People , I’m new to using Avast , so new to this forum . After downloading Avast and connecting to the internet the icon appears in the tool bar tray at the bottom of the screen , when I put the cursor over the icon it says On Access Scanner: 7 Providers Total 6 running, this might seem a stupid question to the experienced but what does this mean and is it right.

6 of 7 providers running means that 6 out of 7 providers are active.
MS Outlook\Exchange providr activates itself only when you start MS Outlook or MS Exchange. Others are active all the time.
