Action centre reporting Avast! not running when it certainly is.

I have had the often reported problem with the action centre saying that avast! was not running, when it certainly was, after updating to the latest version on a Windows 7 PC.

I seem to have stumbled across a solution.

When you open the action centre, go to the virus protection section and click on the “Turn on now” button, then, instead of clicking “Yes, I trust the publisher…” (which doesn’t seem to do anything), click on “No, I would like to verify the identity…”. The certificate information is then displayed. Click OK, the error message disappears from the action centre and Avast! reports that it is running etc.

This worked for me - I hope it does for you too.

What you report is not a avast problem, but a well known problem with the windows security centre.
Resetting the last on will solve it.

Incorrect.
This is most certainly an avast problem and should have been tested to work with the action center.Other security vendors have no problems so why does avast.?

Have you rebooted your system thrice since installing?

Maybe turning off the action center altogether prior to installing may help slightly.

I can confirm that it is not Avast as this is also experienced by other AV installations. It is a bug in the windows security centre

I didn’t say it was an avast problem.
I just thought I had found a way to stop the action centre misreporting.
Only trying to help.
