Ad-Aware Free - Anniversary Edition w Real-time protection

http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Not for me… it’s not enough…

The last version of Ad-Aware I ever used was 2007 the last version that I ever liked to use was SE. SE to me was good, could have been better but good enough to use then 2007 came along and it was a hog when scanning at least on my old Laptop and never found anything except for tracking cookies even on a highly infected computer that I tried to use it on. Im with Tech on this one its not for me Good post though

Hi all…

It does offer realtime scanning for free, a feature that almost all free antispyware programs don’t offer. It’s nice to see this inclusion, although by the name “Anniversary Edition,” I get the impression that it may not be a long term offering.

Best Regards…

Thanks but no thanks, I gave up on adaware a long time ago and have seen nothing recently that would change my mind.

SE was when I abandoned adaware wasn’t impressed by 2007 along with many others, I can’t see adding resident protection free is going to change much.

As someone once said you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig

same here

Hi folks,

I still have it, new outlay, less FPs as it appears to me, Icarus driven scanner, updating a whole lot faster.
It has been written into the ground some time ago, but as an addition to MBAM and SAS, why not? You almost treat it here as it was a dirty word - dw*r# !. Other proggies are just like real life it had its good days and some bad days, it seems now to be just out of the rainy days again,

I’m a firm believer that you can have too much of a good thing. That includes security applications, or they start to take over your very life keeping them up to date to the detriment of what most people want to do use their computers for entertainment, etc. Rather than be a servant to keeping multiple security tools up to date.

Time for another analogy, ‘talk about the tail wagging the dog,’ that isn’t saying adaware is a dog, just that it isn’t best of breed and doesn’t get into my limited list of security applications installed on my system.

This is the main reason that I’ve abandoned Ad-aware and Spyware Terminator…

All is use is SAS and MBAM as Scanners
And if i’m using Avast! which includes Spware Protection and Comodo Fiewall which has Defense and HIPS and all that other CR#P in it and also with Winpatrol running wouldn’t the new Super Upgraded Ad-Aware Realtime Protection conflict with the other ??? ???
And as Davidr said sort of-too much is too much
Nice self sort of portait Damian in animated form-putting on some pounds are we ;D

Tech -

Spyware Terminator can be set to do automatic updates so that it is not a chore. Click image below.

[sorry for the off-topic]

NO POLITICS HERE! >:(

I know… but there will be services and drivers loaded for nothing in background…

I prefer SAS (paid version), but it’s nice to see that Ad-Aware add Real-time protection to the free version.

And if i'm using Avast! which includes Spware Protection and Comodo Fiewall which has Defense and HIPS and all that other CR#P in it and also with Winpatrol running wouldn't the new Super Upgraded Ad-Aware Realtime Protection conflict with the other
does someone know if what i posted above if this is true...that they will conflict or not ??? ::) ;)

Hi Dan,

Non-resident and non-resident may conflict, on-demand cannot,

Damian

What politics, I posted pictures I took off my TV while watching CNN yesterday.
Didn’t know that would be considered POLITICS :‘( :frowning: :’(

Not that it matters, you deleted the post already.

Hi Bob

Didn’t see yours but its removal may have been “collateral damage” There was some other stuff expressing strong opinions.

Then it would have been just as easy to delete the “Strong Opinions” and leave the rest alone. IMHO
