Adblock Broken Again

Earlier today, I was using my computer; but for some reason, Adblock wasn’t working on YouTube, even though it was working on other sites. Fearing that this might’ve happened because of an unidentified program I tried to install earlier tonight (I say that because Avast One warned me that this program was suspicious, and automatically scanned it for potential malware), I did a system restore to a restore point created two days earlier. The restore was successful, but I had to reinstall Avast! Secure Browser because it wouldn’t open. But once I reinstalled it, the problem still persisted, and now Adblock might be broken entirely, for the number of ads being blocked won’t show up. I’ve attached a screenshot to back up this claim.

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Hi there!

Could you please go to settings (top right) → Help and About Avast Secure Browser → Diagnostic Information. Alternatively, enter this address into your URL bar: secure://settings/diagnosticinfo
From there could you send over the diagnostic info. I mainly need the Adblock Extension Version, Browser Version and Cid

Thank you!

In the AdBlock settings, is the following turned on?

I actually reinstalled Avast Secure Browser, and Adblock is working again. But I’m still seeing ads on YouTube, which is a pain, even when I set it to “Strict”. >:( Is there any way to fix this, or is it impossible to block out ads on YouTube with this browser, unless you have UBlock Origin or something?

The only way to block ads in the videos is by subscribing to YouTube premium.

Actually, I kinda figured that out for myself, and I even found out how to set uBlock to give it access to certain sites, like YouTube. Thanks, though!

May I ask, are you discussing the blocking of the intrusive advertisements inside the videos at youtube? Or just the banners around the youtube webpage? Is it supposed to work again? (like in the old adblock versions)

For me, blocking the video intrusions worked perfectly in the previous adblock version, but never since the last “upgrade” - big donwgrade in reality, since then the webpages are full of ads, the youtube full of commercials, the function to block intrusive videos on newspages is gone (adblock used to allow block the big multimedia elements, which meant the self-starting videos were blocked).

You can add a YouTube ad blocker extension from the Google store. I have AdBlock set to strict but still had to add that to stop YouTube ads.

That could be a workaround for one of the issues, but the only proper solution will be to upgrade to an older version of adblock, which filtered youtube intrusive ads, big multimedia files (from the auto-executed videos), selective filtering of individual elements (including any mention about fb and others). The most recent version of adblock is becoming completely useless…

Does anyone know how to install the older adblock that had all the great capabilities?
