A couple of recent threads here and a bunch of plain annoying posters here remind me that this observation is generally valid. If you want to get rid of people that help you for free, then:
pissing them off by offensive remarks and unproductive ranting
outright refusing the well meant advice with arguments similar to a scratched record despite the clear evidence in the contrary and despite your complete lack of expertise in that area
jumping in here and posting about the same PEBKAC kind of problem that has been explained zillion times before without even searching and reading the help file (do not get me started with “Avast blocks my email” again)
trolling in general
are “great” ways to achieve that. Do not see who is going to help you once the technically knowledgeable people get demotivated and leave.
I completely agree. It’s a real shame to see things like that - especially considering AdBlock Plus is one of my favourite extensions.
Too many people complain when something does not work, are not willing to do anything to help and do not bother saying thank you when an issue has been resolved
a good tip is to avoid going after every new thread and help requests posted on the forums. This will drive you nuts if you do that Be more selective, post for your own good first, you’re not working for Avast so it’s up to you to decide if an issue and a poster are worth spending time or not, if you’re interested or not etc… we’re not on a mission here ;D
Unfortunately it is true that many people want everything for free, but aren’t prepared to help resolve any problem that might rise.
We see it in many such forums including here, but unfortunately Wladimir was too open and accessible to these people who are happy/quick to whinge but aren’t so quickly prepared to help.
