Adding/removing Avast components in "Programs and Features"

Thank you for Avast Free! I have Windows7 64-bit on a HP laptop. When I try to add or remove components of Avast Free using Ctrl-Panel’s “Programs and Features”, whenever I exit I always get the compatibility-oriented message from Windows: “Did this program install properly?”. I NEVER normally get this message unless I am trying to install an older 32-bit program. The docs about Avast Free assure me that the program is fully compatible with Windows7 64-bit systems. (I even get this Windows error message if I do not add/remove anything, merely open and then close the Avast Free entry in “Programs and Features”.)

Can you explain this?

If you haven’t already, update to version 2014-RC3 and see if the problem is solved.
