ADNM can't see the server that it is installed on.

So, as the subject line reads; ADNM can’t see the server that it is installed on. How do I get it to discover the 4.8 pro server software installed on the same server to show up on my ADNM console?

Just managed version can comunicate with ADNM, this can be generated .MSI package or just for station cab be downloades here http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setup_av_net_full.exe

Thanks!! I had a feeling that was the case. So it’s a little confusing to why I would need full blown server software (mirror included) on one server and just msi created packages net server (managed) on the others. Well actually I do understand that my other servers would just be protected and not serving up any vps’s, vpn’s etc…My thoughts were to have the admin console and the main server installed on the same machine and be able to manage everything (including full visibility). I did set up workstation client software (also net managed msi packages) within my company which are visible to admin console. It would be cool to be able to see every type of avast software in the adnm console on my network. Is this in the works?

So do I have it right that the ADNM is basically for net managed or avast deployed software?

ADNM is the administrative tool to manage the clients installed via the ADNM console… the ADNM software itself is not a virusscanner…

when you install ADNM you need to create deployment packages for your clients and for your servers…
when you created them, you can deploy them on the servers INCLUDING the server that you installed ADNM on

the home version, and the pro version dont have the modules for communicating with the ADNM server and will never show up, tho i believe in v5 the pro is going to be detectable when the update comes one of these days

Thanks for the info. I do understand that the ADNM console does not have scanning or protective functions. However I did want To install at least one full blown version (with mirror) of the server pro software on my main Server so the clients could grab the updates from it directly (not a net managed server client), and I wanted the ADNM console to be able to see it at least. So v5 may address this issue?

there is a reason why its called “managed” right

avast v5 may be detected by ADNM, im not sure of that tho, i read it somewhere but i dont remember where and if therefor if the source was reliable…

Right now the v5 clients are not managed by ADNM. Avast is working on a v5 ADNM solution that will deploy it’s own managed clients (similar to the current 4.8 system). Of course, the specifics could change, but for right now we don’t recommend installing v5 if you need to manage the installations on a larger network.
