I’m using Avast 8.0.1483 and Flash Player 11.7.700.202. While running Broadband Speed Checker I get a message “A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly” and Broad band Speed Checker gives ridiculous results. This happens using browser IE8 or Google Chrome. The problem disappears if I disable avast. I tried replacing aswVmm as suggested in the forum but it made no difference. Any ideas please?
First, update to 8.0.1489…!!
Thanks. I didn’t think I’d have to do that as it is already set to auto update. Anyway, I’ve done it now and things are better, but not perfect. I no longer get the message but Broadband Speed Checker runs very erratically. The speed needle swings about all over the place and at the end it shows an impossible speed - over 11Mb. Since I’m at the end of 2 miles of thin copper wire leading from a tiny rural exchange I know the max possible is around 6.5. Indeed the BT speed checker shows around 5.5. Why should I worry since I can use the BT speed checker anyway? Well, I’m concerned that other sites will be similarly affected and Flash Player will run slowly.
You’re welcome.
Sorry, can’t help you with Broadband Speed Checker. But often such tools aren’t reliable.
