I just noticed that my Browser (Firefox) that is set manually to WebShield proxy still uses port 80 TCP in this speedtest by my Kerio 4.2.2 packet filter rule?
How could the webshield do that? If the browser is set to use proxy on port 12080, it is supposed to use port 12080 instead of 80. I.e. it should not send anything on port 80…
I see no way how webshield could influence that, unless there’s an exclusion set directory in the browser.
Vlk, I have previously used only application rules for browsers.
Today I set in Kerio internet outbound to ask in firefox.
I surfed a lots of sites, adding some packet filter rules when prompted by the firewall , port 443 tcp and some higher numbered ones for video to Kerio. But not port 80.
So I was surprised that running that speedtest I need to add also port 80 TCP rule to my firefox in Kerio packet filter rule.
I really need that rule otherwise the test won’t run.
I haven’t been to the site but how about putting Firefox in “Applications” tab as well and let Kerio ask what you’d like to do when some connections not in your packet filter rules occur?
