My Avast always pops up with a “Adware Found” message. This happens in every 15-20 minutes and i move them to the ‘chest’. My OS is Windows XP SP2. The adware that is reported to be found is ‘Win32:Adware-gen. [Adw]’. A couple of times I even deleted the file but yielded no good result.

First of all, go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs.
Look for any programs you do not recognise. If you see a program you do not recognise, look for information on Google. If you find reports that it is spyware, remove it.
If you see any of these programs, remove them:

MarketScore
If this doesn’t work, follow the links in the first thread David mentioned where you will find some free anti-spyware programs.
