Adware - Gator

Hello,

I’m a new user of Avast for Home. Everything is going well with the software. However, I read another tech site report on WhenU and Claria (Gator). They’re trying to become “legitimate” now, by offering shares, etc., but they’re in the midst of a lawsuit (with several others in line behind). I knew that, before I downloaded Avast, I had WhenU and Gator, so I rechecked. I still have Gator, which is in my Corel Utilities files somewhere, according to my Find-Files. Shouldn’t Avast remove this?

Thank you for any help you can give me on this.

Sunny

I’m really sorry! I posted the above to the wrong forum, didn’t I? Shall I move it? I’m sure I can’t delete it…

I’m very sorry about this…

Sunny

d/l and run ad-aware from www.lavasoft.de or spybot S&D from http://www.safer-networking.org/ , both are excellent adware/spyware removers ;D ;D

One thing here, Gator has been listed as a Trojan Downloaded by many programs. Same with Roings and N-Case. As such, many AV’s are including them in their definitions, and I think it would be valuable to increase Avast to include some of the bigger, well known, highly malicious programs.

Got to http://www.lavasoft.de or to http://www.lavasoftusa.com (if a USA resident) and download the latest Lavasoft Adaware software. It will remove all “Gator” adware references.
