Afcore kicking my butt!

The name of my virus is: Win32:Afcore [Trj]

Avast found it and it can’t get rid of it. Says it’s in use. No result in safe mode or boot scan either.

I’ve tried Ad-aware, spybot S&D, CleanIt–all in safe mode. I also tried Killbox, but not in safe mode; I’ll try that in a minute.

Here’s the Hijackthis log:

I’m sure there’s a lot of bad crap on there. I didn’t touch anything because I don’t know what it is. Please help me get rid of the baddies and especially Afcore!

Kaspersky have a removal tool

try here

http://www.kaspersky.com/removaltools?vtopen=146410248#open

Back-up any programmes and disable system restore, you know the drill

Thank you for the advice. That tooll doesn’t pick it up though :frowning: I’m still looking at trying to stop the process from running with the task manager (if I can figure out what they are) and deleting with Avast. I just had some luck with that, in fact, but I think there are multiple incidents of this virus on my computer because Avast still says it’s infected. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hi,

please read the link “VirusRemoval” below in my sig and then:

  • HAVE you disabled system RESTORE (with reboot) ???
  • tell us the full & exact path/folder filename, where afcore is found
    → if it’s a .DLL:
  1. Go start → Run, and enter:
    rundll32 ,uninstall
  2. reboot, and delete the file then manually or with avast
  3. or follow these instructions:
    Trend
  • here’s more info on AFCORE:
    VGREP

Also enter
AFCORE
into the board-search above !
and uninstall New.Net

HijackThis Log Analyzer and Online Log Analyzer, I would say use them both.
