afwServ.exe causing high CPU load.

I am running Windows Vista x64 with a Core2 Quad CPU and am finding afwServ.exe it taking up 25% of my CPU load. This is using all of 1 of my cores!

Is this a known issue? I have run into symbolic links causing Avast problems with the scanner, but this is the first firewall issue I have.

yes that’s a known issue, I’ve had 50% here…on a dual-core

ps:I guess with 16 cores I wouldn’t feel the load anymore ;D

Thanks.

Know if anybody is looking into this? I wonder if it is a x64 problem. If it is then I doubt if it is high priority. It seems that if the problem is only on 64 bit systems that nobody cares since most boxes are 32 bit.

I can’t tell… they will have to look into it anyway, even if just 64 bit related >>> most new OEM systems are 64 bit

Doing a search I found this topic:

His 32 bit windows 7 works just fine, but the 64 bit is being bogged down. Since this thread was started in January I would say that it is not being looked into very hard.

yeah, that’s not the only issue with this firewall >>> you can add to that the firewall log being cluttered with supposed to be blocked connection and on my system, and only when this firewall is installed, some delay to recover an Internet connection when the system resumes either from sleep mode or hibernation…expecting the next build will solve all these things ???
