As a long-time (and more or less experienced, I hope) Firefox user, I don’t trust extensions like Adobe’s download manager (ADM). Today I found another program to update flash player but I am not sure if it is safe and reliable.
i would just use the default adobe installer. If your willing enough to let a 3rd party program to try to update another 3rd party application then ADM would be the better choice, there is always a bigger risk of them conflicting and messing up. I have adobe flash player installed through the adobe download manager and its fine by what i can see.
I see on the homepage one of the listed “awards” was from majorgeeks, reputable site, I’d be inclined to trust it at first look. You might want to research it a bit further. Find some user or forum reviews.
I generally just watch the General forum >> Updates << topic and use the official site to download the update as and when one is notified in the forums (or using Secunia).
I’m very trusting (NOT) when it comes to allowing applications to auto update and the only notable exception being avast ;D
I also try to download new flash players from the official site but now as a Firefox user I have two problems: every time I want to download a new version for Firefox, Adobe tries to make me install their download manager first, and if I want to find a direct link to download, I have to look through half a dozen of pages in order to find it on their site.
Last time i checked, Adobe Flash player was updating itself (on its own). Besides, not having Adobe Flash installed these days is nearly impossible as every 3rd page will require it…
