My Internet service provider is AT&T. I have fast access (supposedly). I have a modem. I don’t have a wireless connection. But frequently when I want to connect to the Internet or shut down the pc, I get a message that this is not responding: ATT_SST_McciWirelessClientApp_W . . .
I have to use Control/Alt/Del to end it and then restart to be able to get on with accessing the Internet, etc.
So I contacted AT&T and was told it’s software that works in a pc with wireless capabilities. But that I could uninstall it if desired. I just go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it.
I then asked if I could get it back if I ever had the need for a wireless connection. He said I could manually install it and gave directions to do so (at first he said to insert the installation disk and go through the process until reaching the software part where that app was found. That sounded awkward and not quite right, thus I asked for another way and was given the above alluded to manual directions).
So do you think it’s ok to uninstall this app without repercussions, given what I’ve explained about my apparent lack of need for it now and its intrusive nature? And that it would be easily gotten again should the need arise?
What’s the full name of the program ???

My ISP is at&t also.I don’t have any of their software installed on my pcs.I’d say it be safe to uninstall that app you’re asking about.
All I know about it is the info I typed out. That’s all that shows when I get the message about it holding things up.
As it turns out, I looked in the Add/Remove programs and can’t see anything with that name. So why the AT&T rep told me to remove it from there I don’t know. So I guess there is nothing I can do about it.
