This will be a long story but i will try to get everything in i noticed right from the start here. I use Fire fox browser mostly. I also have Chrome as backup.
So a few days ago i was on facebook and was messaging a person i know. Then no messages at all on the computer would come threw. Humm tried to refresh the screen and facebook popped up a message saying my computer was infected and i needed to download a scanner to scan it. I did not down load it. I did look in my browser and it did start with facebook.com ect. But i dont download things because a web page tells me to so i avoided it and clicked around trying logging out and back in and it kept sending me to the same page after logging in. Me not believing i had a virus i finally did a disk cleanup and deleted my firefox history. I check marked every box. Then i was able to log back into facebook and everything seemed fine. (take note my facebook is protected where they have to send me that code generator to my phone to log in from new browsers) A day or so passed everything seemed fine till i went to watch a youtube video and i noticed nearly every add that popped up on the video was the same one that stated i am missing a driver and needed to fix it. Again i dont click on that kinda stuff so i didnt. Snooping around in my firefox i noticed a couple of plugins i have never seen before. OpenH264 and Primetime content Decyption module. I couldnt find a way to remove them so i opened file location and deleted the files for them. Im not sure if that was a smart idea yet or not.
now last night i went into my online avast account witch i havent been into for a very long time but noticed under my computer it says “some shields are off and your license is inactive” Also at the bottom of the page a little pop up says “We have noticed that your browser is not protected by the Avast Online Security plugin!” Then it gives me the option to download it. That one looked totally legit so i tried to install it. Everything comes up as it is from avast i install it and it states it was installed. little bit later it pops back up again. Also it shows on that circle thing that tells you what is protected the firewall shows up as Red.
With that said IDK what is going on and would like to figure out why my online avast account says things are off and not active. Thank you for any and all help you can give!
