Amisites search is a browser hijacker and is bundled with other free software that you download off of the Internet.

Do you have PUP detection ON in avast settings?

I have been having a problem with this ‘bug’ for over 6months now. Yes it seems to have been with something some where some how but my husband nor I seem to be able to find any programs in the last year that would have had this bundled with it not to mention we aren’t ones to just not read stuff when installing because we know about these issues.

I’m here because this program now seems to not just be a ‘bundle’ problem but it seems to be a hi-jacking/virus problem and I need help to get rid of it if anyone can help or give some information about it. I first tried contacting avast itself but because I’m using a free version it seems I’m not allowed to be asking for online support which for a product they wish to sell and is getting completely oven-ridden by this problem program you would think they would allow it and try to help shrug.

So over the last few months, I haven’t installed ANYTHING new since the problem started to happen with exception for updates for normally used programs such as avast, java, flash player and what not. Hubby and I are not computer novice as we have over 40yrs experience between the two of us. Yet with use of my computer lately of more then 30mins or so time, this amulec program will REINSTALL itself without doing a thing to activate it. Today, I was simply browsing youtube at some recipe videos and like times before, my browser shuts down and I go ‘oh god not again’. The first thing that happens is that it attacks my anti-virus rendering it completely un-usable! It turns off ALL of my shields, re-installs itself, turns both firefox and chrome into their personal servants with the amisite crap that I have to again remove and then leaves my avast in it’s unprotected state until I turn it all back on.

I have tried everything from mal-ware removable such as mal-bytes, spybot, hi-jack this type programs, removed registry keys and everything else the web has offered as a fix. I’m now trying to run a full system virus scan with avast but with a 2tb hard drive, this is gonna take a while. What is happening? Why is it that Avast is getting turned off? What is going on and how in hecks name do I get this thing off my computer??? HELP!!!

Edited to add - hubby brought up a good point. We have tried all things suggested on the web already with very little luck but the most annoying factor is that we can do these things until we are blow in the face and still not know if we got rid of the problem or not because it’s not like a normal virus that keeps attacking 100% of the time until your find it’s weak point. I do all these things, remove all the things that are suggested, put back the target launch on the programs and what not and then wait… perhaps the same day if you are using your computer long enough or as much as week later. It’s totally and utterly random that it re-installs. How can we catch something and stop it if we can’t see it doing it for weeks later :frowning:
