An Administrator has blocked the installation of a program

I recently tried to install an application but saw an large red error message stating ’ An administrator has blocked the installation of a program…'. Disabling Avast did not change this.

I am the admin on my machine. I have tried everything including help from MS community forum - see https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/an-administrator-has-blocked-an-application-from/a7ead379-c774-492e-b7b4-0cc9b9cf98ce

from my research i would appear that i need to activate access to controlled folders in windows defendor (WD). However in order to do this I need to turn on Real time protection. However this is grayed out and there is no way i can switch it one. Disabling Avast does nothing.

one suggestion from a Google search has implicated 3rd party AV programs for deactivating the real time protection of WD.

Is there a setting in Avast where i can switch on WD real time protection or will i have to either mess about with the registry or uninstall Avast completely? There is potentially another option in Local Group policy Editor but i have not yet enabled this.

i would be very disappointed if Avast has a role in this debacle

Post a screenshot.

i cant - for some reason when windows goes into the warning screen, print screen is disabled.

i will try and add a photo

attached is photo

That warning is not related to Avast.

did you actually read my message and all the links included with care?

you will find that i was asking if Avast has hijacked and disabled windows defender and if it has, how can i reactivate real time protection in defender. If no one can answer this question then please put me in touch with a member of Avast tech team
