An issue with Avast in general that I can use some help with.

Hi all, I have an issue with Avast in general that seemes to have started with the last few versions, bascally alot of the times I try to install something, even though I have the realtime scanner disabled, it’ll lock the games/programs install.exe to avastSVC.exe or some other avast file, which I then have to use a program file called Unlocker in order to get Avast to leave it alone so it will load and I can install said game/program. When it locks it I also get a huge cpu spike that lags the pc down.

Running it mutiple times Avast will stop it from loading each time. Even though when Scanned when avast manually the file comes up clean. ANyway to stop it from doing this because its getting really aggravating having to do these steps in order to get things to install. It shouldn’t be doing this when the real time scanner is disabled, the thing is it doesn’t scan or or anything it just sits there and doesn’t allow it to load Till I do the aformented unlock procedure with Unlocker, not even a reboot will fix it, next time I run the same .exe installer Avast will lock it again.

Now I have used Avast for years setting it the exact same way and I have never had this issue till 2011 versions.

Look up this option.

File System Shield;
Expert options;
Scan when Opening;

Scan all files, radio.

Is it ticked or not?

If ticked. It will scan all executable files in full because these are the most likely to carry malware.

By default this option is off because when you open a folder. It usually is not needed to be on. But it is optional as extra security at scanning when opening such folders, containing executable files.

Sounds to me more like the Behavior shield, do you have that installed, and if so is it set to auto decide or ask?
