Malware can be grouped into a small number of families of similar code. These can be further subdivided into related sub-families.

Unfortunately getting AV companies to agree on using a universal naming convention will be as
difficult and impossible to accomplish as getting Microsoft, Apple. Unix and Linux to agree on a universal operating system… ;D
