Android:MMmarketPay-A [PUP] please help?

Hi there, So my Wife and I have tried to log onto our StGeorge banking apps today and have received an alert from our Avast antivirus. (I am running a HTC M8 and she has an GS5.)
Android:MMmarketPay-A [PUP]. So i ran a scan on the phone and it came up with the malware in the banking app and a standard service provide app that allows you to buy and watch tv shows.
I have uninstalled these apps for now but was wondering if this could be a false positive or have both of our phones been infected. We have not updated or downloaded any apps in the past few days.

Any help would be great. Thanks, David Walton

Hi,

my guess would be a false positive. I’ll provide the info to our viruslab and I think they’ll get back to you (= to this thread) tomorrow with an explanation.

quick update.

So i uninstalled the apps as advised by the avast antivirus and re scanned and found nothing. I then re installed the banking app and as soon as i open it avast pops up and tells me there is malware. ( same of wife’s phone )

So i grabbed my fathers GS4 with avast installed and opened his banking app (same app) and avast does not pick anything up.

I’m seeing this alleged PUP on the app from MyCouncilServices.com
How do I find out if it is a false positive, or a real threat?

Any updates on wether it is a faulse possitive

Was this not fixed already? Do you still see the detection? What version of virus definitions do you have?

Filip

Thank. All good now, just reinstalled and working perfect. just didn’t hear anything on the forum so I thought I would just ask.
