I went in and cancelled the auto billing because at 76, I have to watch my pennies, errr cents. Since doing that every time I go to an Internet page I get this.
Internet Explorer Security, etc etc.
IE, Webprep Loader
AVAST Software S.R.O
I tick Do Not Show Me this warning again.
Then click Don’t Allow.
I have clicked don’t allow and Do not show me about 50 times and it won’t go away. How do I get rid of this monster.
NOPE, I clicked Attachments and other options, then Browse and got the item in the Attach line BUT, how do I get it into here. I have pressed preview but no luck. I am a 76 year old, so can somebody spell out what I need to do.
It is logical that you are asked again.
You run IE in protected mode.
Whatever you select, the setting will be removed when you close IE.
That is by design in IE and there is nothing to do about it.
Eddy, I am not a computer wiz but, assume you are saying I have to put up with it because Avast don’t like me stopping auto subscription, and they can’t rip my money out of my account. I will just have to go to the bank to-morrow and get a new Visa card and Visa number because my pension is not that big.
I’m saying that if AOS (or for that matter any other extension is installed) it doesn’t matter what you answer you give/setting you make, because the answer is not stored permanently.
Meaning that if you start the browser again, it doesn’t know what you have done last time.
winactive, Instead of rubbishing me, tell me how to fix it or get rid of that window, or don’t you know how? I have had about 6 computers since 2000 but, obviously I am not as smart as you.
Well I still have this AVAST Monster to contend with. I tried going direct to Avast, and they didn’t want to know about it, just told me to go to forums. If I uninstall Avast all together will it go away?
I’m not sure why people can’t just simply tell you what the acronym “AOS” stands for, but it is Avast Online Security which is one of many optional components of Avast.
I have attached a screenshot image of what this components icon looks like in your browser.
As others have noted on this page this Avast component is currently called “Browser Protection” (instead of “Avast Online Security”) which you will see if you click on the link above and scroll down the page to “figure 2” where all of the components are listed. Uncheck “Browser Protection” (or “Avast Online Security” for older versions of Avast) and click on the “Change” button (which will remove the component from Avast).
Reading through that page explains how you get to that point where you can remove the component.
You understand that you’re getting this message because this component is supposed to be providing “browser protection” or to rephrase using the previous terminology provide “online security”. Removing the component from Avast will serve to remove the message you’re getting that you don’t want to see anymore.
