Another annoying avastsvc.exe query

Surely there must be some way to stop it from trying to connect to the 'Net every 30 or so seconds. With auto updates and all real-time “protection” off, it persists. Please, no doubletalk about proxies and all TCP/IP traffic going through it. Just does anyone know how to stop it besides uninstalling? Must it run, at all?

Must it run, at all?
must you have antivirus ::)

+1 ;);D ;D

If you go online and want protection then it must run… And yes I will doubletalk about proxies because that is how it works… Any net connection will be directed through Avast, block that and you might as well uninstall Avast as you have killed your first line of defence

The only way I know of is to uninstall avast. On the other hand if you decide on a different anti-virus you end up with the same predicament. 8)

Since 85% of all infections come directly from the internet, disabling that part
of your protection is equal to committing online suicide.

Wow, what a wasted effort this was: again. How did I not know I was among presumptuous koolaid-drinking evangelists who swallowed the whole load and who know better than I do what I’m doing and what my needs are. You can’t answer my question because none of you knows. I’ll say again: WITH ALL REAL-TIME (and “automatic”) functions turned off avastsvc.exe persists in t rying to connect to the avast website every 10-40 seconds. I have it blocked. If you think that behaviour has anything to do with “proxies” or “protection”, you have snot for brains. I’m going to leave it turned off, thanks and leave your church. Sheesh!

James, how about just uninstalling Avast?
That definitely would be a permanent solution to your problem, no?

why so irritated >:( …it is always easier to answer if we know the reason
and i am sure there are somone here that can give you the exact answer you want …or you may search the forum
will this help ? http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=64164.0

but why install a AV with real time protection if that is not what you want …then there are alternatives

@ The OP if you want real-time protection you need to keep avast up-to-date. That means avastsvc.exe must be able to contact the server. The only other suggestion I can think of is to turn off the “cloud services”. GUI>Cloud Services> untick “allow streaming updates”. Even then I’m not to sure this will address your complaint. :slight_smile:

As I suggested before you can always uninstall avast and take your chances. :slight_smile:
