Another error message - Can any one help

Setting up a new account in outlook, when I test the account I get the following message.

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

  'test@an-account.demon.co.uk' on 10/02/2010 11:53
        Server error: '550 Authentication required when sending mail on port 465'

I am using avast v5 free. With accounts that where already setup before installing Avast 5 work ok.

If I disable outgoing mail scan then all works ok.

Maybe there is a conflict with mail shield, please check: http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=458 let us know if it could helps you.

Thanks for that, the problem was that SSL was being configured in Avast, once I had set encryption to none and the port number back to 25 it was ok.
Not sure why it wasn’t effecting the other accounts that were already configured before installing v5
