I am so impressed with the helpfulness of everyone on this forum that I thought I’d ask another question.
I currently run Ad-aware se personal which seems good, I also use MS antispy which os “ok”. I also have spybot search & destroy; again “ok” & spywareguard which seems worthless as it never has any updates.
Does anyone have any reccomendations as to the Best anti-spyware (both free & paid for) and do you agree the best approach is multi-layered?
There is not a single anti-spyware solution that catches all.
Most of the ad- and spyware is found by Lavasoft. The trio ad-aware, spybot s&d and spywareblaster is a good solution,
added by bazooka and a-squared or ewido you are aptly protected.
If you use a browser with Adblock plus installed and updated is also a good measure.
X-Cleaner Free is worth a mention, as is Trend Micro’s online scanner. The Yahoo! toolbar includes an anti-spyware scanner, based on Pest Patrol’s engine, I think.
I have had no experience with this product and until now had never heard of it. I did a Google search of Arovax and they seem the offer 3 or 4 products. It seems this is a beta (?) product which does not mean anything bad. Found it listed at many download sites with the standard product summary but only found a few reviews … both good and bad. Takes these reviews with a grain of salt.
Yep, if on broadband-(a)dsl it is quite some download, but you then have virtual arena (environment) in linux that is running apart from, but inside your normal win environment, so if they (the baddies) get root or can install malware, what is very unlikely with this confusing virtual software browsing enviroment, because the main malware vectors go for either IE and “Windhose” and in the unlikely case the virtual environment is shot down by a malware clown, you can just delete and reinstall a new one. It is just like a gigantic safe-proof sandboxie. Can you see the benefits and the advantages there.
If you have the space for it, I like to hear of your experiences. You can F8 your way through,
Try it,
polonus
PS The browser space is what the normal mem key having, not that big huh.
Hi to All of you
In my opinion the best protection (I mean 99.999%) can be achieved by a multi-layer software combination.Total protection (100%) has only the OFF-line computer.
I use a combination of freeware and shareware applications, see post bottom. Try these products which I have been used for 3 months without any conflict.
I hope it helps.
