Anti Theft draining battery

Got an update of Anti-Theft today. It has drained about 25% of the accu within 4 hours.

After uninstalling AT and AV, everything was back to usual. Reinstalling AV works fine, but at the moment AT is installed the draining starts again.

I use Root-Install (standard way, no ZIP) on SGS2 with Android 4.1.2. CPU spy shows about a quarter of the time at 600MHz (instead of usually 95% at deep sleep and 4% at 200MHz).

Anybody else the same Problem?

can you get use some log?

Which logs!?

open avast! anti-theft create support case, and attach the logs (tick all boxes). in description mention it should be assigned to Reinhard Holzner.

I also have experienced this issue since the last update

How do I open a support case ?

For my part it seems solved since the last AV update. Battery consumption back to normal.

you always need to differentiate between Anti-Theft and Mobile Security!

I know these are two parts.

So, to make it clear: I got an update on AT and had massive battery drain. Then, a few days later, there was an update on AV. After that i again reinstalled AT and now everything seems to work fine.

please keep us posted if the problem occurs again.

For me, since I got the AT update I am seeing a massive battery drain

I just checked and now both AT and AV seems up to date

ok watch it please.

AT is always at 36 to 42 %

I think I was able to identify the issue

Since the last update of AT, the GPS was marked as enabled in the settings.
So AT would turn it on and off, as needed.

I turn this off, and now battery usage is back to normal

Hi
I have the same issues, large battery usage from “Update agent”(anti-theft ) app. I would like to add a few steps to reproduce it.

Let me start with the specs and details:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Official Rom (Android 4.2.2)
No mobile data subscription (I use only Wifi for accessing the internet)
“Location access” (always) off with the 2 check boxes unchecked
Continuous tracking - off

What happens:
battery goes low
“Update agent” sends it’s notification message with the location
it seems that the UA manages to get the location somehow, but the “location access” is still reported off
in the “settings → battery” panel the “Update Agent” starts to show a high battery consumption
clicking on the graph show “gps on” and it remains on even that “Location access” still reports it’s status as off

from that moment on, after the notification, the device reports high battery usage (even as high as 57%) from the app and shows the gps on.
even after a full recharge the situations remains the same
also I’ve tried enabling and disabling the “location access” and playing around with the check boxes, nothing changes.

the only solution I’ve found to stop the battery drain is to reboot the device. I’ve found a hint in some forum for similar solution.

hope these details will help in debugging (and solving) the problem.

I remain at your disposal for further details, logs, analysis.

PS: I’ve already submitted “reports” from the app menu

hi are you an advanced user (e.g. knowing how to use ADB)?

PS: please send me your support case numbers to holzner at avast.com
