Sorry if this has come up before, but does anyone know of a good free antispam program that I can use with Avast 4 Pro and Outlook Express. I prefer something that shows when new emails arrive in the task bar and will allow multiple accounts. I have tried Spamihilator but cannot get it to work with Avast despite changing my settings, and ones working with Outlook and Outlook Express always show only in Outlook despite my program being Outlook Express. Grateful for any advice.

I see no reason why should Spamihilator refuse to work with avast! Maybe if you provide us with more information about your problem we might find working setup for you.
Bye
Lukas.
Best way to not get spam or block it, is using the human brain.
Most (all?) email clients have a option to set rules for the mail. This is very effective to automaticly delete spam if porperly setup. There is no need for a 3rd party application to block/remove spam.
How can you block it using the brain? ???

Thanks for your replies, my problem with Spamihilator is as follows: I change port setting in Outlook Express and Spamihiliator to120 as instructed by Avast. My problem lies in entering my user name in the format “pop3server&username(&port)” port is optional. Without doing this things work fine until I add a plug in “pop3 notifier” and all I keep getting is a message to enter the user name in the correct format. Perhaps I should try Spamihilator withPop Tray.
Using Spamihilator Pop3 under the server in Outlook Express changes from 127.0.0.1 to localhost. I have tried various combinations: 127.0.0.1&username, localhost&username and mail.onetel.com&username. Any suggestions?
As I understand your setup, your are running Spamihilator on localhost (==127.0.0.1) port 120. In Spamihilator you have an extra plugin called “pop3 notifier”.
You should setup everything as if Avast! is not installed. (according to Spamihilator help files)

make yourself sure, that spamihilator is really running on port 120 (Settings / Connection in Spamihilator)
-
in Outlook Express account
server: 127.0.0.1
port: 120
username: mail.anyserver.com&anyuser -
I dont’t know the options of “POP3 notifier” but I believe you should enter your normal pop3 credentials, so:
username: username
server: mail.anyserver.com
port: 110
Thanks lukor, everything working fine with Spamihilator and Pop3 notifier.
