If you use the ‘screensaver’ scanning option, Avast already does that.
If you mean with a ‘normal’/‘manual’ scan.
It wouldn’t make any sense nor would it provide decent scanning.
Files can be changed/added between two scanning options.
If Avast would resume from where it left off, those wouldn’t be scanned.
And that can mean a infection isn’t detected.
