AntiVirus System Pro

Hello, my computer is infected with the virus – AntiVirus System Pro. I get constant pop-up messages from this virus indicating that my system is infected and recommending that I buy their software. Based on the info I read online, once you buy and install their software, it steals your passwords.

I’ve been running Avast for several months now, and it was not able to prevent this attack. After the attack, I installed all Windows updates, including several security updates. I know Microsoft added a security update for this specific problem within the past two weeks.

However, this is not fixing the problem. I’ve tried running Trend’s MicroCall, which did find a Trojan, but when I tried to delete it, the program got hung up. I also tried to install this program, per another post in this forum:

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, On-Demand only in free version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe

But after installation, when I launched the program nothing happened, the program did not display anything although my task manager indicated that it was running.

Anything I try to do takes a long time, because this virus is draining the resources on my computer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Go to C\program files\malwarebytes antimalware\mbam.exe.Rename MBAM.exe ( eg moon.exe ) then double click on moon.exe

Also try running MBAM from safe mode.

The problem with that approach is that the updates are usually designed to close a vulnerability rather than fix the results of an exploit. Better to be patched from the start.
