any antivirus will not work!

hi, I have a major problem, when I install an antivirus software on my pc, right when the program trys to load up, it simply goes away, every time I try and open it. I just barely get to see the load screen and then it disappears. I use to use avast, but something went wrong with it (probally what ever is going wrong right now). I did use the panda root kit cleaner to see if that was the problem, but it was not. I then tried to use zone labs and it did the same thing. I did also run a boot time scan with avast, but the problem never went away.

What ever is doing this is also messing my internet up as 80% of all loading web pages go directly to a “server cannot be found” page.

Please help, my pc is 100% un portected!

oops, forgot to say, I am downloaded the latest version of avast the day before last (4.7), and I am using windows xp.

I suggest you visit this page http://www.antirootkit.com/software/index.htm for antirootkit detection, removal & protection, besides you have used Panda’s antirootkit.

Oh, did you try to run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimp2.exe?

There are other rootkit tools out there, http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/try_blacklight.html also see, anti-rootkit, detection, removal & protection http://www.antirootkit.com/software/index.htm as Tech just mentioned.

 Hi Footballer :

There is a "type" of security programs between antiVIRUS & Rootkit
"Detectors" called "antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN" programs ; have you
used any of these types of programs ? If not, I recommend you start
with AVG Antispyware from www.ewido.net ; IF you are unable to
install it or run its "Complete System Scan", then I recommend you
use its "Online Scanner", where it says "Scan now" tab in the upper
left-hand portion of the website .

As to Rootkit "Detectors", recommend you not use "Beta" programs
unless there is nothing better available . At this point in time, there
is, namely "Rootkit Unhooker", available at
www.rku.xell.ru/?l=e . There is an online Support Forum for help,
including HOW to "read/interpret" their scan Results .

Hi footballer62,

You obviously have something which is killing AV programs. You could try a AV scanner which doesn’t need installing, like Trend Micro Sysclean or DrWeb CureIT. You can download these on another computer then run them on the infected computer, preferably in safe mode. (If you can’t see the CD drive in safe mode, copy the necessary file/folder to you HD, then reboot into safe mode and run the programs.)

DrWeb CureIT is a simple executable, but Sysclean requires you to unpack some folders and move the actual executable to this folder.)

thanks guys, you have given me some great things to try later on at home.

I just hope these other programs can catch what ever the problem is, considering that avast’s boot time scan was unable to do it!

btw, when I tried panda, I also tried blacklight (right name??), and it wouldnt work as it gave me some error saying something was disabled or mal ware was affecting it. All I know is it wouldnt work due to some malicious code on my pc.
