Any news of avast 5.1 release date?

When is it coming i can’t take it anymore! How many days or months? Till we see it’s 5.1?

You and others have asked this same question in other topics and the answer hasn’t changed, when it is ready.

Monitor the forums for notification of the beta release of avast 5.1 and the final release of 5.1 wont be far behind.

I doesn’t matter how many times you ask the same question the answer won’t have changed.

Yes you can! I am sure that you don’t die! Just relax, and when 5.1 is ready, it will be released ;D

Something get wrong… They seem to postpone the release.
Hope it is just some weeks.

I don’t think there is anything wrong, Avast! 5.1 is a lot of work. For example with Avast! 5.1 they want to release the Server Edition too. The bad news is that the Secure Desktop is moved to Avast! 6.0 .

Two weeks ago, Robinson said the translation of the business versions will take on and this is part of the 5.1 release process. We translators were suppose to be received it two (or more) weeks ago.
We receive nothing (yet)…

It’s a bit off topic, but you mean the Avast Small Business Console? I received my Passolo file almost 2 weeks ago ???.

HI I would just like to ask that I emailed Vik and he told me an email that avast 5.1 they would release it at the end of Nov.

That is what they told me too 2 weeks ago. Also that :

  • x64 Boot time scan is ready.

  • x32 Behaviour Shield is ready. But they were still working on the x64 version though.

  • Secure Desktop is moved to Avast! 6.0 .

  • With Avast! 5.1 they want to release the Server Edition.

Why in the world would they change the GUI as it’s the new one where using now and one of the best that i have seen.

I have and I was told that most of the translations has been done internaly, the files I was sent were 70% done…

Hope they find a solution and anoying problem with self defense module/system restore proces on Win 7 x64 …

I’m going to look at it tomorrow… do you have any related errors in Event Viewer?
How exactly do you use system restore? Do you create restore points manually? How long elapsed between create and restore operations? (approximately)

Improvements will come, is logic. My question is: will v5.1 have new protection modules, new technologies for detecting fake AVs or malwares, etc?.

I know the Avast! boys don’t consider this update as a major one ( Except maybe for their business clients ).

Well, I hope they plan on beta testing for longer than 2 weeks before the release (beta in mid november, release at the end of november).

Remember, the only group of people that 5.1 is really going to affect is business customers such as myself, and we have a lot more to worry about going wrong than the standard home users do.

There were a lot of problems with the release of 5, but think about more important systems running with a problematic A/V… exchange servers going down, sql failures, sharepoint corruption, in-house custom applications, etc.

I just wish they’d give us something soon so that we can test to see what breaks before getting it on production systems.
