Anybody know of AV_tester software?

Hi forum members,

We are up against mighty adversaries, the malcreants of to-day.
I never knew there were special AV_tester programs to make malware go undetected by AV products. What do anti-virus programmers use as counter technology. For security information go: here http://www.governmentsecurity.org/archive/t7055.html
linked checked with Dr.Web plug-in status OK.

Who will comment?

I’m not trusted in some kind of software which “generates” undetected virus. I think it’s silly and even may be dangerous! All comments this time, polonus.

Hi Ylap,

I am with you there. There is a group of people that are in security and their motto is “You do not need malware to fight malware”, just like you need not have written viruses to be an anti-virus fighter. I belong to this last group. But analyzing the malware is quite another kettle of fish. This is mighty interesting stuff. Because there is a battle fought out on the internet, and we are under constant attack and we are all part of it. Thanks for your comment, =Ylap=

Just use the EICAR test file to test a av.

The reaction did not deal with the threat this poses. The link does not speak of an AV product tester but a virus generator tester to make malware completely stealth against all sorts of AV products.
I did not realize the efforts of malcreants took them that far. And what is a good AV program doing to combat these stealth techniques? This is a good text on this: http://www.awprofessional.com/articles/article.asp?p=366890&rl=1

Thanks Polonus ! Very valuable information.

Especially the latter link is worth reading for everyone who does not know how difficult it is to combat the latest, highly sophisticated, viruses.

gee, aren’t those people going a little too far with making better viruses? why can’t they just leave us alone?

it’s been a while since i was last on,
cheers,
