I am not using AOL internet service but everytime I turn my PC on the AOL icon is in the lower right screen and AOLtray is shown as a running process and the icon indicates connection enabled
I had the same problem after I stopped using AOL…
I had to start/settings/control panel/add-remove programs and delete it
you can check your Task Manager and stop the process.
this is just my experience!
others will advise you soon…
There’s a thought – ICQ’s cleaned up their act lately, but the first few versions after AOL took them over would load your system down with all kinds of AOL garbage - Start-menu, favorites, “related links”, you name it. So if you’ve got ICQ or AIM, especially a slightly older version of the former, they’re highly suspect.
AOL puts a few different “processes” on your computer. Among them…
One is for the application itself.
A second is for the Systray icon.
A third is used for the “onshutdown” updates…The little box that says AOL is updating files before shutting down.
The icon acts as a “process” and will run until it is removed as you now know.
If you look at the System Startup on a computer using AOL, you will be amazed at what runs.
