Upon updating an app, the Avast notification icon will occasionally disappear.
Explanation: When I’m updating an app, I can see the download notification symbol, message that it is complete, then the Avast notification popping up that it is scanning the app. When it’s done scanning the app update download is when the Avast notification icon disappears on a random basis. The only way to get the Avast icon back is to go into Avast settings>notification icon>then select/deselect default or gray scale or none until the Avast icon shows back up. There is no pattern to which apps this happens to. It can happen with one update and then work perfectly with a subsequent update within the same app. I can update 3 or 4 apps without anything happening, or I can I update 2 or 3 where it happens everytime. I’m pretty sure that this has never happened on a new app download, only on updating existing apps on my phone. I assume Avast isn’t actually closing because I have seen it in the “running apps” list, but I haven’t always checked immediately after the notification icon disappears to make sure. Everything else with Avast is working fine.
This is occurring on a Droid Razr Maxx Android 4.0.4. We have a second identical phone on which this has also happened, although I think only once or twice.
Is this a known bug when scanning an app on download? Is there anything that can be done about this?
Hi,
It may be a bug. In my phone, I am the same to you. The icon of avast! in my phone disappear from 4-5 s after scanning apps completed. Then it show again.
Does your icon appear again?
Running AMS current version 2.0.3380. I don’t know the release history of AMS, but I only noticed this disappearing icon sometime in December. Just going off my memory, wasn’t there an AMS update sometime in early December?
To answer binhvirile’s post, I usually wait a minute or so, but the icon does not come back by itself.
if you want, send me an email to havlicek[at]avast[dot]com and we can try to sort it out together You will probably need an adjustment to your environment (don’t worry, nothing destructive :)) so I can tell what was going on afterwards.
I don’t mind sending logs or whatever, but I’m somewhat reluctant to run special programs or make any system changes to my phone as you are suggesting. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I’ve volunteered to help with technical bugs with software companies on my PC (other companies, not Avast) a couple of times in the past and it was a huge headache for me…one time it took about 3 weeks to get my PC running right again. I don’t mind helping with this potential bug if I can, but please understand that I’ll only go so far as my comfort goes…I really can’t risk losing any phone functionality.
In the meantime, I have a couple of app downloads pending that I could test this issue on and send a log if necessary. Please advise, thanks.
Filip will never harm your device for purpose, believe me. In case this is happening with the icon, please send us a feedback from avast directly (Settings>About>Send Feedback) and do not forget to select “send device log” and “send detailed system info”. Thank you.
