Well, “Apple software update” updates quicktime, iTunes, and all other apple software. I don’t like it on my computer, but it’s sort of a personal preference. You can update your programs manually, or you can have Apple software update check for updates on it’s own.
Edit: I decided to uninstall it and got the following message
‘There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor’.
Suggestions and advice would be most appreciated!!
Yuck, it sounds like you’re having major Windows installer issues.
I’d re-register your windows installer files, but I can’t remember how to do that off of the top of my head, let me look around and get back to you on that.
Try this suggestion:
First, try the old faithful reboot; this error may be the result of an RPC
error. If a reboot does not clear the RPC error, you have bigger problems
than installing MSI packages!
Reregister the Windows Installer service by typing “msiexec /unregister” and
then “msiexec /regserver” at the command line.
As to my thinking that you had major windows installer issues, it was because of the HP software and TWEAKUI that wouldn’t uninstall for you in your earlier post.
If other things are being removed properly, then you’re right, it’s probably ok.
