Are these rookits a false postive

This is a new laptop, avast pro version found, 27 files that are labelled as rookits and hidden files, but when i attempt to delete them , i get an “error:access is denied (5)”
malwarebytes detected no malware
superantispyware detected no malicious stuff

There have been a number of similar posts to this and most appear to be related to a recent windows update. Have you just applied some windows updates ?

What scan was this ?

Yes, it has applied update and it still has more to apply,
what do you mean by what scan is this ? (do you mean if its a full scan - yes , avast pro version newest version - yes)

Whilst this is going on these files are likely to be hidden.

It is just that different scans scan at different levels and sensitivity, etc. So yes I was after the type of scan you ran Full System Scan. Personally I just run a Quick scan as that scans the areas and files which are most are risk of infection and or if infected present an immediate risk, e.g. .exe files, etc.

but does this mean these are not harmful? i did a second full scan and nothing came up, it screenshot is from the first time i did a full scan, but i want to delete or send them to the virus chest if necessary( though i read that avast treat must hidden files like this)

The detection is based on the hidden activity, after the updates are complete these should be gone if you run another scan.

Just a point though, Deletion is not a good first option, if it succeeds you have no options left, first do no harm and send to chest and investigate. That however, in this case would have given the same access denied error.

The full path can be helpful and to see that you have to expand the column width in the Scan Log.

I’ll try to expand the logs , but as i just said it found it on first scan and now it didnt find it on second scan , also why do these laptop companies put so much bloatware on a new pc?

Yes, as I mentioned “the detection is based on the hidden activity, after the updates are complete these should be gone if you run another scan.”

Ok , i understand now , thanks bro ;D

You’re welcome.
