hey new_age…would like to try the shield but as you can tell by my profile below…i think the shield and the other programs i use would conflict with each other…especially spy sweeper…any info would be appreciated :o 8)
Arovax Shield only monitors Cookies and start-up Items that are added.
Please note, WinPatrole monitors a whole lot more than just Cookies and Startup items.
So why would I replace something that does more with something that does less???
hey bob3160…should i try the shield or just leave everything as i have it…everything is running smooth as silk…with the stuff i got…(like at my profile)…have a good one
will it conflict with the programs i have…look at my profile…be on later…out into the real world…thanks…(spy sweeper and ad-ware runs in background) ;D
I’ve installed Arovax Shield on this machine with the following still in place
Avast! Pro
WinPatrol
Spybot S&D
AdAware SE
Ewido
A-Squared
Bit Defender Free (non-resident)
Clam Win (non-resident)
Avant Browser (almost exclusively)
So far no conflicts, and I will say when I finally got around to changing Java over to update 7 Arovax notified me of the BHO changes both on the uninstall and new install. Scottie didn’t bark once about this.
On the down side I get a notice about not being able to find Firefox at every boot even though I uninstalled that months ago. Does anyone know a solution to this?
Also, Bit Defender seems to bother it regularly - someting about DB News.

There would appear to be a startup entry or registry entry still pointing at firefox (perhaps for a 3rd party program for firefox, e.g. a firefox tweaker), so a regedit search for firefox.exe, etc. in the values not keys might reveal something.
However, without the exact error message with path if given I can’t say for certain. Search for the file name or location given in the error message.
I’m unconvinced from when it first arrived on the scene in these forums. So a forums search would reveal more info. I haven’t looked at it again since then, there are other programs out thee that do much the same tasks and I personally don’t feel I need it.
After searching the registry 4 times I’m sure there are no Firefox entries there, and no start up entries either. I decided to check the Arovax Forum and found that this is a known bug that was supposedly fixed in version 1.2.348. Problem is, that’s the version I’m using so I guess it still needs some work.
Thanks for the feedback, this looks like arovax has a database of programs that it compares for additions or removals, etc. and that database has become out of sync.
The only clue as to the program origin might have been the icon on the top left of the error window if that happened to indicate arovax.
