Hi I have been using AVAST for a couple of years without any problems. But now when Avast starts at bootup or if I try and start it manually I get an error saying that ashbase.dll cannot be found. I have tried uninstalling & re-installing as suggested, but i still get the same problem. I recently updated Firefox to 2.0, could this be the cause of the problem ?? Thankyou in advance.
Will this help?

Did you search the board for ashbase.dll keyword?
I did search & I did find that link & I have tried repairing, and uninstalling and reinstalling !! I’ve searched the c:/ drive for ashbase.dll and it is in the avast directory - so I’m now stuck.
What if you start (double-click) ashSimpl.exe (or ashDisp.exe, which is the tray icon component) from the avast directory?
Get the same error - see attached
Strange… so, there was only one ashBase.dll found on your disk, right? (the one in avast! folder)
Also, can you please search entire registry for the string “ashBase”?
There shouldn’t be any occurences normally.
Thanks
Vlk
I suppose this one, from Comodo, won’t hurts…
But you’re right, no other significant occurrences.
