250 GB SEGATE SATA 2 HDD
Well uTorrent is notorious, for the number of small part files that it downloads. If you have enabled the utorrent option in the P2P shield ?
Then that is what is going on scanning the many files being created, this is the reason wht utorrent is not selected by default in the P2P shield.
Sorry other than that I can’t be of much practical help I don’t use P2P applications.
The ashServ.exe file is the main scanning engine, whilst this high cpu activity is going on is the avast icon rotating ?
Well ashServ.exe isn’t just used by the Standard Shield, so it could as easily be another provider scanning something, but even then the icon should rotate when scanning is in progress.
As a temporary measure you could enable the ‘Show detailed info on performed actions’ this displays a ribbon list at the bottom of the screen (it could get large) more or less real time list of what is being scanned.
Standard Shield > Customize > Advanced - ‘Show detailed info on performed actions’ this option is off by default, this function is also on the Web Shield and Internet Mail providers so you should also check those.
utorrent open and closes the file being downloaded, avast at Normal sensitivity level is scanning this file (probably). Check your IM provider, most probably, the default will be excluding utorrent from scanning… I don’t know if there is a technical solution for this…
