NeroMorte, check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).
Yes a couple of months ago I also began to receive AVast errors (eg Error in aswChest) and BSOD. I think it started after an update of their antivirus engine. After a BSOD and reboot Avast immediately tries to update indicating it was trying to do so when the error occurred. Your particular error is usually one of two things: RAM issues or the application is not accessing memory properly. In your case I would blame Avast. I think there are some issues with Avast. I’ve noticed that when running certain applications if Avast decides to do an update issues result such as BSOD. If I remember to jump through the hoops and shutdown Avast beforehand the BSOD does not occur. I’ve tried to setup Avast to not update when I am using those applications but since Avast doesn’t offer scheduling for a certain date and time that is hard to do. Another thing I don’t like about Avast is the inability to easily shut it down. It is never good to design software that can not be easily shutdown. You can stop “ON Access Protection” but there are still several Avast services running in the background and accessing the Internet. If one of these services is causing your problems (and they were for me) how do you troubleshoot it? You have to manually kill each service. Ridiculous. After the Avast engine update I also noticed sluggishness in various Internet activities. Disabling Avast completely restored accessibility. Disable Avast completely and see if your issues go away. If they do blame Avast. Since it’s free deal with it or buy a different product.
Did you keep the memory dump of that BSOD (C:\Windows\Minidump) or the dumps I’ve requested on reply #4 above?
Help they to correct any issue, please.
Which are these ‘certain applications’?
If the provider is down, the service is not used. It won’t cause any harm.
Besides, low level applications need to be fully uninstalled or, at the very least, requires a reboot.
Serious? Which firewall do you use? Which is the ‘old’ antivirus you have being using?
VLk have yea found anything in the Log Files yet. If not would you like a List of all my Running Applications. a Dump from “HijackThis” Maybe i have something installed that is conflicting with the avast software?
Ahhhhh Very Cool VLK after Posting this i Got your Email to do the following.
Just add the following line:
StorageMigratedOK=1
to the [Common] section of the file \data\avast4.ini. This should
resolve the issue for good.
Your Welcome, Thank you sooo much it works now Woohooo =)
