ashwebsv cablenut high cpu

I recently found and downloaded cablenut. I “tweaked” my internet settings to match using the cablenut add-on package. It did a terrific job of increasing my download speeds. I then noticed that ASHWEBSV would consume the CPU and drive the CPU load to 100%.

I took my son’s PC which was running fine and then I loaded cablenut in a similar fashion - and it’s CPU load went to 100%.

I am hoping that by posting this, someone can investigate and nail down a resolution so that the ASHWEBSV can be used with the now tweaked parameters.

By the way, I have 5 meg CABLE service and that is the “custom settings file” from the cablenut update that I applied to both PC’s.

Also, if I have missed setting or defining something within avast, I would appreciate knowing what what I need to do to fix the high CPU load.

Were you downloading anything while ashWebSv “consumed” the CPU? Was avast! tray icon spinning?

No, there was nothing downloaded and no web sites were being visited, in fact, there was no other system activity going on at all.

I do run Kerio firewall on my PC, and ZoneAlarm on my son’s PC.

I run Hijack This and Ad-aware regularly and clear things off as they come up. I don’t allow Torrent to be installed or run on our PC’s. I am confident there is no spyware/malware running.
